Walter "Buddy" Bell 79, of Hewitt, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, April 7, 2014. A graveside service will be 11 am, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Waco Memorial Park, with Pastor Ken Riley officiating. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, April 9, from 6-8 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
Buddy was born, in Waco, on December 7, 1934 to Walter F. and Lillie Mae Bell. He graduated from Waco High School and was a member of the Army Reserves. Buddy married his soul mate, Sondra Scott, on June 4, 1955. This union was blessed with three children; Pam, Tim, and Ken. He retired from Owens Brockway after 39 years of service.
Buddy was the first City Marshall of Hewitt as well as the Fire Chief. He served as a Boy Scout Leader as well as a Deacon and Youth Leader at his Church. He loved traveling, working with horses, and gunsmithing. He was a wonderful artist, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He faithfully attended his grandchildren’s many activities. Buddy was a member of Hewitt Community Church and Cotton Palace Sam’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Chantz Bell; and son-in-law, Dale Prater.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sondra; daughter, Pam Prater of Hewitt; sons, Tim Bell and wife, Ovata, of Woodway and Ken Bell and wife, Tammy, of Lorena; grandchildren, Chase Bell, Sara Bell and Cheyenne Bell; brother-in-law, Bobby Scott and wife, Dixie, of Robinson; sister, Sue McHargue of Wortham; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved pets lil buddy, Tipper and Butter.
The family would like to thank, Dr. Gary Barbin, Dr. Jeff Young, Dr. Charles Schultz, Jr. and Providence Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made to Hewitt Community Church or Providence Hospice.
