Bobby Floyd Havens

January 30, 1930 — July 3, 2024

On July3, 2024, our precious Daddy, Bobby Floyd Havens, walked through the Pearly Gates of Heaven into the loving arms of his Redeemer, JESUS CHRIST, our Lord. He was 94 years old. He is now reunited with his devoted wife of 73 years, Mary Ann Havens, and all of his family who preceded him in death.

God had a special plan for him beginning with his home birth in a country home weighing in at just two pounds. There were several other instances in his life where death could have taken him, fire from the wash pot, barbed wire fences, pneumonia, but God had a bigger plan.

Bob served his country in the Air National Guard first at Fort Benning, Georgia and then at Hensley Field in Dallas, Texas. It was during this time that he married his sweetheart, Mary Ann Clark. He worked for the Dallas Times Herald and the Dallas Morning News in the stereotyping department along side his uncle, Clyde Havens.

He decided, after much prayer, to further his education at Arlington State College achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Science while continuing his jobs at the newspapers.

In 1963, God led him to move his family from the city to a thirty acre farm in Mansfield, Texas, where he obtained a teaching position with the Mansfield ISD. He taught secondary Mathematics and Physical Science to numerous students for 30+ years. He loved teaching and his students with a fatherly love. He was also blessed to teach at Fort Worth Country Day School in Fort Worth making some wonderful memories with those students, as well.

Bob was a member in good standing and faithful deacon at First Baptist Church of Mansfield for many years where he served in several positions, Sand Flat Baptist Church near Cleburne and finally, Riesel First Baptist Church where he made lots of loving friends.

Bob is survived by his five children: Kathryn Benton and husband, Charles of Riesel, Deborah Havens of Cleburne, John Havens and wife, Katherine of Mexia, Rachel Green and husband, Coy of Dublin and Laura Good and husband, Bobby of Cranfills Gap.

He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren: Adam Benton and wife, Tiffany, Elisabeth Bienski and husband, Wade, Joshua Havens, Nathan Havens, Benjamin Havens, Dr. Rebekah Peters and husband, Isaiah, Courtney Lee and husband, Marc, Shannon Chick and husband, Chad, Aaron Good and wife, Ashley, Thomas Good and wife Liz, Stuart Good and wife, Kandi, as well as, sixteen great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 3, 2024, at 2:00p.m. at Riesel First Baptist Church, Riesel, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riesel First Baptist Church to be designated to the Texas Baptist Men.
