Bobby Joe Harris left this earth and entered the gates of Heaven to join his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, with Pastor Greg Brumit officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Bobby was born April 3, 1929, in Waco, Texas, the 2nd child born to Joseph Lamar and Zonie Bell (Blackwell) Harris in Waco, Texas. Bobby (Uncle Bob) attended Waco High School and married the love of his life, Bertie Louise Parrish, on April 9, 1949.
He was faithful to his Lord and served as a Kendrick Lane Baptist Church Deacon for many years. In their golden years, they moved their membership to First Baptist Church of Robinson. His wish was to be remembered as a follower of Jesus Christ, which he will be. He will also be remembered as the best Daddy, Papa, Uncle, Father-in-Law, and friend anyone could have.
Bobby was a certified welder, retiring from Brown & Root after 18 years of service. He was an avid hunter and a lover of all things chocolate. He was a Southern Little League coach, coaching his sons and influencing the lives of many young boys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 65 years, along with his brothers, Ralph Lamar and Douglas Ben.
Survivors include his daughter, Denise Carter and husband, Jerome, sons, Steven Lamar and wife, Diana and Byron Lee, grandchildren, Angela Boyett and husband, Michael, their children Mason and Macy, Blake Harris and wife, Sami, their children, Payton and Knox, Colby Harris, Lauri Collins and husband Mitch, their children Chris, Sydney, Gracie (Brett Dimas), and Carter, and Randi Cain and husband Waylan, their children Joe, Ethan (Brett), Morgan, and Stuart, his niece, Debbie Harris Tharp (David), along with numerous other special nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends.
The family would like to especially thank his Caregivers, Precious and Brendal, along with his wonderful Hospice Nurses, Ellen, Stacy, Derrick, and Angie for their excellent care.
