Bobby Haferkamp, fondly known as "Bear" to family and friends, went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 17, 2014 after several years of chronic pain and illness. A graveside service will be 10 am, Friday, March 21, 2014 at Moody Cemetery. The family will receive visitors, from 6-8 pm, Thursday, March 20, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
Bobby was born July 20, 1959 to Eva and Marvin Haferkamp. He was youngest of 4 children and attended school in McGregor, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Terry Thompson, September 30, l978. They had 35 years of love and companionship and were blessed with two daughters and 4 grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he treasured each and every one of them. Their home was always open to family and friends. Their daughters' childhood friends still consider them as "mom and dad".
Bobby took pride in his career of driving trucks in all 48 states and missed it when forced to quit due to health problems. He enjoyed fishing, playing "42" dominos, gardening and working with his hands. He would look for any excuse to have barbeques and fish fries because he loved bringing people together. He was loved for his sense of humor and easy going nature. He will be very missed by family and many life-long friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Thompson.
He leaves behind his wife, Terry Haferkamp; daughters, Crystal Haferkamp,Jamie Martin and her husband Robert Martin; 4 grandchildren, Morgan Haferkamp, Jacob Haferkamp, Kaleb Martin and Kaden Martin; sister, Betty Haferkamp; brother, Jimmy Haferkamp and numerous nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephews.
