Bobby Joe (BJ) Gilliam, 85, of Robinson, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 2, 2017, at Robinson Cemetery, 620 E. Stegall Road, Robinson, TX, with Roy Krumnow officiating.
BJ was born in Mexia but lived his adult life in Robinson. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He worked as a mechanic for many years at General Tire. He loved riding motorcycles, camping and traveling to Blue Grass festivals, all with his best girl. BJ was passionate about many things but the thing that gave him the most joy was his family. He took care of his family in many ways, from changing the oil in our cars, moving our belongings to a new place, babysitting grandkids and reminding us to get our car inspected. There was nothing he couldn’t or wouldn’t do for his family. He was greatly loved and will be missed.
BJ was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Ray Gilliam; granddaughter, Rachel, brother, Hugh Gilliam and his wife Fay; and his mother Mary Hance.
BJ is survived by his wife of 65 years, Roma; daughters Sharon Krumnow and husband Roy, Glenda Huang and husband George, and Gina Ward and husband Ted; daughter-in-law Linda Gilliam; brother, Randall Gilliam and wife Sue; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
