Billy “Bill” Jay Osburn, 81, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, with Rev. Jerry Freedman officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home.
Bill was born January 30, 1936, to J.B. and Ollie Kate Osburn, in Waco, TX. He married Pat Blackwell in September of 1974. Bill loved racing of all types. He started racing in 1962 at the HOT Speedway, and was inducted in the HOT Speedway Wall of Fame in 2013. Bill worked as a sheet metal worker for 50 years, retiring from Stewart Stainless. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether sitting outside at their lake house in Mexia, TX, or going to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. He and Pat were long-time members of Bethel Methodist Church in Robinson, TX.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Michael Osburn; and sister, Jean Osburn.
Bill is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pat Osburn; sons, Dale Osburn and wife Jan; and Billy Jack Osburn and wife Denise; sister, Judy Pierce; grandchildren, Tiffany Littleton and husband Chris, Jamie Osburn, Jeff Osburn and wife Amanda, Josh Osburn, Lyndie McPherson and husband Jonathan, Candice Osburn, and Jennifer Osburn; and 11 great-grandchildren.
