Billy H. “Bill” Laughlin, 81, of Robinson, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 10, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive in Waco. The family will receive visitors 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, April 9, at the funeral home.
Bill was born April 7, 1934, to Arnold and Hattie Laughlin. He grew up in Mooreville, working on the family farm. On August 28, 1954, he married Jo Ann Triplett. Bill enlisted in the Army May 3, 1956, and was stationed in Germany. He came home in 1958 and started farming with his father-in-law, Henry Triplett. Later he worked as a printer and retired at the age of 62 from Baylor Printing. Bill loved to deer hunt and had a lease in Llano for 39 years. He bought a farm in Durango where he continued to deer hunt until recently. He loved his many trips to Colorado for deer hunting and was able to go to Montana to hunt. Bill and Jo Ann loved to travel and saw all 50 states during their years together. They were members of Kountry Campers and Robinson Drive United Methodist Church where they made many friends. Bill enjoyed many gatherings with friends and family sitting around the table playing games, but his special love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Hattie Laughlin; his sister, Dorothy Magee, and his brother, Larry Laughlin.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Laughlin; son, Robert Laughlin and wife Cindy; daughter, Debra Vorderkunz and husband Glyn; brother, Charles Laughlin and wife Ima Faye; sister, Bobbie Nottingham and husband John; grandsons, Heath Laughlin and wife Leigh Ann, and Ryan Vorderkunz; granddaughters, Laura Laughlin, Leah Laughlin, and Katelyn Vorderkunz; and his great-grandchildren, Ashton, Preston Marie, and Heath, Jr.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his good friends that helped him through his illness and the staff at Scott & White Hospice for their outstanding care.
