Billy Gann

Billy V. Gann 84, of Robinson, passed away from this life, Saturday December 21, 2013. Services will be 2 pm Monday December 23, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2000 Clay Ave. with Pastor James Price officiating. Burial to follow at Robinson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 4-6 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
Billy was born November 8, 1929 in Bosque County to Melvin and Francis Gann. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1947 and shortly after, joined the military. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his tour he came home and met the love of his life Lorene Dreyer; they married in July of 1956. Billy worked for the Texas Highway Department, retiring after 36 years of dedicated service.
Billy was an extraordinary father and supported his sons and grandchildren in all their endeavors. He never missed a sporting event and coached many of his son’s teams. He enjoyed taking his sons hunting and fishing, playing dominos, and having coffee with his friends in Robinson. He also enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Supporting the Baylor Bears was a family tradition for the Gann’s. He was very involved in St. Mark Lutheran Church, serving on the Board of Trustees and Education.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ed Gann.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorene; sons, Virgil Gann and wife Tama, Donald Gann and wife Vicki, Barry Gann and wife Kay, and Jerry Gann and wife Roxane; grandchildren, Kory, Kody, Hope, Brady, Kayla, Dustin, Jeremy, Blake, and Kaci; sisters, Jeanette Burreson and husband Gene, and JoAnn Wimberly and husband Jake; brother, R.L. Gann and wife Cynthia; numerous, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Kody Gann, Kory Gann, Brady Gann, Dustin Gann, Jeremy Gann, Billy Wimberly, Ronny Wimberly and Mike Gann.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Billy’s name to, St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2000 Clay Ave. Waco, Texas 76705.
