Betty Ruth Porter

Betty Ruth (Talley) Porter, 86, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024. A graveside service will be 11:00am, Wednesday, October 30, at Waco Memorial Park, with Pastor Brandon Frenzel officiating. A visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.

Betty was born January 6, 1938, in Temple, TX, to G.F. Talley and Alta Rae (Cardwell) Talley. She married Bobby Ray Porter May19, 1956. They were married 48 years when Bobby passed away in 2004. She was a military housewife who loved taking care of her family. They moved to various states in the US and Germany over the years. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Waco. Betty had a giving heart; she volunteered at her church, helping with events and reading to the children’s groups. More than anything, Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Ray Porter; daughter Janice Marie Porter; and daughter, Becky Lynn (Porter) Spiares; and sister, Carol Hallbauer.

She is survived by her sons; William (Bill) Ray Porter and wife Erika and John Floyce Porter; brother Robert Talley and wife Patricia (Pat); along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be a reception following the graveside service at First Waco Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Drive, Waco, Texas.
