Betty Wood Morris, 80, of Waco passed away at home Tuesday, July 21, 2015. A graveside service will be held 10am Saturday, July 25 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple with Chaplin Larry Holden officiating. The family will receive visitors Friday evening July 24 from 6-8 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
She was born Dec. 20, 1934 in Temple, TX to A.L. “Slick” and Christine Wood. Betty resided in Waco for 45 years. She lived in Temple and Corpus Christi. She retired from Brazos Valley insurance in 1996. Betty loved camping. She and Richard worked as gate attendants at several Corp of Engineer parks on Lake Belton until 2012. She was a loving mother, wife, and “Meme”.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Richard Morris of Waco; daughters, Joy Scott and husband Larry of Waco, Kathy Bell and husband Herman Jr. of Speegleville, Diane Rose and husband Jon of Kansas City Missouri; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Brandon Reinke, Herman Bell III, Chase Sullivan, Scott Toliver, Brandon McDonald, and Mason Scott.
The family wishes to thank the nurses of Baylor Scott and White Hospice, with a special thanks to Tasha for taking such wonderful care of Meme.
