She attended Riesel Elementary schools before moving to Marlin where she graduated from Marlin High School in 1963. Betty married the love of her life, Raymond E. Fleischhauer on June 28th 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel. She was blessed with two daughters that adored her, Daphne and Leah. Betty was a loving and caring grandmother known as “Granny” to her four grandchildren, Holly, Elizabeth, Timothy, Alan and her great-granddaughter Ailyn. She would have loved to meet her new great-grandson, Connor.
Betty became a stay-a-home mom shortly after Daphne was born. While Daphne and Leah were young, Betty began an in-home day care in which many children and their families became part of her family. In June 1990, she retired from full time day care to take care of her two grandchildren at the time and was a constant presence and a blessing in all their lives. Later, she worked part-time at Trinity Lutheran ECLC where she was lovingly called Ms. Betty.
She loved sewing, cooking, gardening and had the most amazing flower beds. She made many of Daphne and Leah’s clothes and sewed dresses for them even into their adulthood. She continued to sew for all her grandkids and even made clothes for those precious children she kept. Betty went to be with the Lord and Savior she loved. Alzheimer’s can steal so much from the patient and the family, but it could never steal her faith in God…the very same faith she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
