Betty Kennedy Evans, 78, of Pearland, passed peacefully at her home, Tuesday, August 22, 2017, surrounded by her family. Services will be held 10am Saturday, August 26 at Open Range Cowboy Church, 582 FM 1713, Whitney, with Pastor Gerald Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm Friday, August 25, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco.
Betty was born October 5, 1938 to Horace and Olga Kennedy. She graduated from Waco High School, and married Dan Bryant, her high school sweetheart. Together they had four boys; Dan, Carl, Brad and Mike. After his death, she married Ronnie Evans and they enjoyed 26 years together before his passing in 2009. She began working as an administrative officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1979 and excelled in her career until illness forced an early retirement in 2017. She loved the gym, referring to it as her social hour, and went as much as possible, even making sure to get in proper form exercises during her final days. She was strong in her religious faith and you could catch her reading her Bible every morning. Shopping was second nature and the skill was quickly passed down to any child or grandchild who was willing to learn. It is no wonder that Black Friday became a yearly family reunion.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronnie Evans; son, Mike Bryant; and first husband, Dan Bryant.
Betty is survived by her sons, Dan Bryant and wife Paula, Carl Bryant, Brad Bryant and wife Michelle; brother, Mickey Kennedy and wife Adele; grandchildren, Bobby Bryant, Molly Terry and Husband Will, Sarah Mahan and husband Josh, Taylor Bryant, Katie Bryant, Natalie Woodard and husband TJ, Ashley Peebles, Justin Peebles and wife Toni, Malissa Tate and husband Brandon, Matt Bryant and girlfriend Katy; 11 great-grandchildren as well as extended family and life-long family friends.
The family would like to thank the team at Texas Home Health Hospice for their care.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Bryant, Justin Peebles, Matt Bryant, Taylor Bryant, Dan Bryant, and Carl Bryant.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Texas Home Health Hospice in her name, 8876 Gulf Freeway Ste 410 Houston, Tx 77017.
