On Saturday, September 21, 2019, Betty Sue Durham, loving wife, mother and friend, passed away at age 78. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at St. John United Church of Christ on 100 N. Robinson Dr., Robinson, TX at 10:00 a.m, with Jacob Brenton officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home located at 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, TX 76706.
Betty was born on July 10, 1941 in Bowie, TX to Truston Jackson and Lula Mae (Thompson) Parr. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1959. On May 29, 1960, she married Ronnie Durham. They raised four daughters, Suzanne, Julie, Lisa and Rebecca.
Betty had a passion for painting and she also loved to bird watch. She loved animals and took in many strays to give them the care and love only she could give. She was a nurturer and took care of family and friends. She and Ronnie were active participants at St. Johns United Church of Christ. For many years she and Ronnie were active in the North Texas Square Dance Association. She retired from L-3 Communications in April 2007 where she had held the position of Administrative Assistant.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Truston Jackson; her mother, Lula Mae; her daughter, Rebecca; her sisters, Dorothy and Catherine; her brothers, Truston Jackson Jr., Robert, Charles, Kenneth, Duwayne and Dwight.
Betty is survived by her husband; Ronnie Durham; daughters, Suzanne Durham, Julie Durham, Lisa Olson and son-in-law Travis Olson; grandchildren, Chase Hatchett and fiancé Kim Harris, Cody Olson and wife Ashley, Nicholas Olson and Savannah Olson; four great-grandchildren, Tyson Olson, Hank, Lorelai, and Ulysses Hatchett as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Travis Olson, Chase Hatchett, Cody Olson, Nichols Olson, Don Ashley, and Kevin Smith.
