Bertie Platt

Bertie Sims Platt, 98, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with a viewing one hour prior to service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery.
Bertie was born February 2, 1919, in Robertson County, TX, to Mark and Leola Champion Sims. She married Earnest Earl Platt on February 2, 1941. Bertie was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. She was a homemaker; she loved to quilt and tend to her flower garden.
Bertie was preceded in death by her husband Earnest Platt; parents, Mark and Leola Champion Sims; and eight brothers and sisters.
Bertie is survived by her children Vonda Vales and husband Roger, Everett Platt and wife Linda, and Mark Platt; grandchildren Lance Platt and wife Elaine, Rusty Platt, Eric Platt and wife Clarissa, Jeffrey Vales and wife Nicole, and Christopher Vales and wife Kerry; along with 12 great-grandchildren.
