Bertie Louise Parrish Harris joined her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be 10 am, Monday, October 20, 2014, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, with Pastors, Greg Brumit and Micheal Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors, Sunday, October 19, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Louise was born January 14, 1930, in Waco, Texas, the 9th child born to Ira Lee and Dallie Susie Bennie (Settle) Parrish in Waco, Texas. She was a member of the Graduating Class of 1949 at Waco High School, and married the love of her life, Bobby Joe Harris, on April 9, 1949.
Bertie served her Lord and her Church by teaching Children’s Sunday School at Kendrick Lane Baptist Church for many years. In their golden years, they moved their membership to First Baptist Church of Robinson. She excelled at being a good wife, a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loving friend to all. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking her chicken and dumplings and fried pies for her family and extended family. Louise worked at K-Mart in Waco for 28 years, before retiring in 1992, to travel and chase grandkids.
Bertie was preceded in death by her parents and all eight siblings, Monte Lee, Albert Doyle, Della Grace, Jim Willis, John Arthur, Robert Leroy, Lula Beatrice, and Opal Irene.
Bertie is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Bobby Joe; her daughter, Denise Carter and husband, Jerome, sons, Steven and wife, Diana, and Byron and wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Angela Boyett and husband, Michael, their children Mason and Macy, Blake Harris and wife, Sami, their children, Payton and Knox, Colby Harris, Lauri Collins and husband Mitch, their children Chris, Sydney, Gracie, and Carter, and Randi Cain and husband Waylan, their children Joe, Ethan, Morgan, and Stuart. Also surviving her are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends, along with lifelong friend, Betty Faye “Pete” Oliver.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bagley, Joe Jewell, Jimmy Smith, Craig Stone, Larry Wilson, and Winston “Wink” Wilson.
