Bernice Pierce passed away late Tuesday evening, March 14, 2017, at the age of 77. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday March 17, 2017, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco. Graveside service and interment will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, at Axtell Cemetery in Axtell, Texas with Judy K. Welch officiating.
Mrs. Pierce was born July 24, 1939, in Denison, Texas, the daughter of the late Clyde Walter and Greathel Bell Simms. The family later moved to Dallas where she graduated from Central High School in 1957.
Much of her life was spent in the retail business as a buyer for Career Girl in the former Lake Air Mall as well as their other stores in Waco. She owned and operated Kellie Marie Collectables in Waco for many years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren and listening to the Gather Trio music.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Walker, Sr. and wife Mindy, Johnny Ray Wyatt and wife Cindy; a step-son, Keith Andrew Pierce; one daughter, Wanda Lynn Bennett; special niece Brenda Pauling and Judy Welch; six grandchildren, Kellie and Kenzie Bennett, James Foreman, Winston Sullivan, Tasha Baker, Clifford Walker, B.J. Walker; step-grandchildren, Cpr. William Fitcher, Miranda Fitcher, and Christopher Smith; many great-grandchildren; one great- great- grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends their special heart felt appreciation to Dr. John Speckmiear, Dr. William McCunniff, Dr. Steven Elwell, Dr. Josh Goldstrich, the staff of Bluebonnet Health Services, Comfort Keepers, and Laverne Krueger Hann for their wonderful care of Bernice through the years.
