Bernadine “Dean” Ricketts, 97, of Lorena, TX, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, at 1912 Monte Vista St, Waco, TX, with Bro. Reggie Blake officiating. Burial will follow at Stranger Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Dean was born April 10, 1926, to Jasper Stovall and Carrie Mayflower (Hardegree) Erskine. She was raised in the county community of Lavender, TX. She married Milton Renshaw Ricketts, Jr. on April 16, 1949. Dean was a stay at home mother who devoted her life to caring for her family. And after her children were raised, she worked 17 years at HEB retiring in 2000. She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church in Waco, where she sang in the choir.
Dean was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper, and Carrie Erskine; her husband, Milton Ricketts; son, Milton “Toad” Ricketts, III; sister, Dorothy Phillips; and brother, Kenneth Erskine.
She is survived by her children, Diane Ricketts, of Lorena, TX, Lisa Anderson, and husband Michael, of Mesquite, TX; grandchildren, Jason Cook and wife Olivia, of Melissa, TX, Joshua Cook of Lorena, TX; Rachael Anderson, of Plano, TX, and Evan Ricketts and wife Heather, of Ross, TX; along with her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caia, Kennedy, Hailey, Tyler, and Heidi.
