Barbara Rae Redding went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and reunited with her beloved husband, Robert Glenn Redding on November 4, 2022. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 19, 2022, with visitation at 10 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Williams officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rosemound Cemetery.
Barbara was born October 21, 1944, in Waco, Texas, to Flora Nichols and Ray Meacham. She graduated from La Vega High School where she met the love and light of her life, Robert. They married and embarked on a lifelong journey of love and devotion on June 7, 1963.
She and Robert travelled the world during and after his career in the Air Force, taking them to France, England, Germany, Italy, and several states in America. She was so proud to graduate with her LVN License from Wichita State University’s Technical School in 1994. She celebrated this achievement by learning how to roller blade with her dear friend Lisa, a testament to her spirit and love of life.
The highlight of their lives was when they became parents, first to Robert in 1969, then to Jeffrey, in 1972. The hallmark of Barbara’s life was her unselfish devotion to God and her family, and especially her unfaltering love. She epitomized faith and love, and simply: Is love. She gave pieces of her heart away without gratification, and the pride she had for the children in her life, especially her grandchildren is without measure. Her dogs, which she affectionately called her “honey lambs” also held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother Flora Stewart, husband Robert Glenn Redding, and brother Thomas Stewart.
She is survived by her son, Robert L Redding; son, Jeffrey G Redding; grandchildren, Sydney, Robbie, Kortney and Tabitha and their mother, Ashley Breedlove; brother-in-law, Leland and sister-in-law, Mary Nell; brother-in-law, Lloyd and sister-in-law, Paulette, and nieces, Stephanie, Shelly, Dawn, Nikki, Krista, Amanda and Hannah; and numerous other beloved family members.
Pallbearers will be Robert L. Redding, Leland Redding, Robbie G. Redding, Greg Chudej, Ty Chudej, Gage Laine and Hagan Laine.
The family would like to sincerely thank all the amazing staff of both Texas Home Hospice and The Blake at Waco who provided exceptional and loving care until she was called home. She came to know and love all of you as if you were her own family, especially Little Bit!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Barbara’s favorite charity.
