Barbara Parsons

Barbara Alen Hillis Parsons 92, of Robinson, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, August 1, 2013. Services will be 2 pm, Saturday, August 3, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. with Pastor Marvin Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Barbara was born July 3, 1921, in Shawnee, OK to Arthur and Allie Hillis. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School. She married the love of her life, L.D. Parsons, August 28, 1943 in Hattisburg Mississippi. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and chairman of the kitchen committee since 1965.
Barbara was a happy homemaker and always made everyone feel welcome. She was known for her outstanding cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James and A.M. Hillis; husband, L.D. Parsons; son Merle Parsons.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Gibbs and husband George of Mart; grandchildren, Kevin Gibbs, Traci Kimberling and husband Chad, Tami Parsons, Kimberly Green and husband Rick, and Toni Peebles and husband Justin; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Curtice Hillis Sr. and John Hillis; sisters, Louise Fisicaro and Helen Sarsgard; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
