On Thursday, September 15, 2022, Barbara Jean Harthcock, loving mother of four, passed away peacefully at the age of seventy-eight. Born to Raymond and Lucille Barber of Waco, TX, Barbara graduated from Connally High School in 1962. She was perhaps best known as a gifted wedding and sports photographer, having owned and operated Stahr Photo for many years. In the early 1990’s, along with her husband David, Barbara transitioned into a new career as a catastrophe insurance claims adjuster. Together, the two took incredible pride in their work, traveling the country and assisting people in times of great need.
Barbara married Philip Wayne Stahr in November, 1963. Following Phil’s death in 1980, Barbara married David Malone Harthcock in January, 1982. David also preceded Barbara in death, passing away in 2012. Barbara is survived by her brothers Kenneth Barber and his wife Linda, and Donny Barber; sons, Robert Stahr and his wife, Martha, Richard Stahr, and his wife, Kim, David Wesley Harthcock and his wife, Amanda; daughter Rena Rene Harthcock; grandchildren Philip and Victoria Stahr, Jessica and Adam Stahr, and David Jonathan and Daniel Harthcock; and great grandson Milan Harthcock.
Funeral services will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Rosemound Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of The Delaney at Lake Waco where Barbara was a resident for the last five years. She was loved, and will be missed, by many.
