Babs Lackey

April 25, 1939 — February 25, 2014

Barbara “Babs” Jean Lackey, 74, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Barbara was born on April 25, 1939 in Kingman, Arizona. Barbara worked at Trade Winds Restaurant where she met and then married Lonnie Wayne Lackey on June 9, 1970 in Waco, Texas. They were happily married for 44 years and raised 7 children.
Barbara worked and retired from Graham Embroidery after 20 plus years of service. She also held other positions which included Piggly Wiggly, Harold Waite’s Pancake House, H & R Block and Waco ISD. Later in life, to fulfill a dream, she went back and received her associate’s degree. She enjoyed gardening, crochet, traveling, camping, fishing and spending lots of time with her family.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride and pleasure in the achievements of her family. She was an inspiration, always encouraging and seeing the best in everyone she met. She was never Mrs. Lackey. She was “Mom” to everyone.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Sage and Thelma Crosslin, sister Shirley Bowers, grandson Justin Grant and granddaughter Miranda Baker. Barbara is survived by her husband, Lonnie Wayne Lackey, her children; Sherry and Chuck Gulebian, Vicky and David Pustejovsky, Billy and Jimmie Holt, Carolyn Diane and Billy Eilers, Kristi and Stephen Butts, David and Stephanie Holt and Robert and Angi Lackey. She is also survived by her brothers; Sagely and Sandra Crosslin and Ronnie and Gail Crosslin, 24 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, Texas between 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2014. Graveside services will be at the Riesel Cemetery off of Highway 6 and Broadway on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 am.
“Bless Our Home, Our Lives, Our Friends With Love, That, Lord, On Thee Depends.”
