Arvis Walter, 93, of Robinson (formerly of South Bosque), passed away Friday, February 24, 2017, at his residence, with his family at his side. Visitation will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, Wednesday, March 1, from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Harris Creek Cemetery in South Bosque, with Pastor David Cozart officiating.
Arvis was born August 25, 1923, to parents Jim and Ollie Walter. He served in the Navy during World War II, 1944-1946. He married Jacqueline Ruff, June 3, 1944. Arvis worked for Bird-Kultgen for many years and then worked for Davis Truck and Equipment until his retirement. Arvis loved car racing, camping, bowling, and any activities that involved his family. As his wife of 72 years put it, “Arvis loved life”. He loved watching Nascar Racing and sharing race results with his friend Charlie Furrer. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Arvis was preceded in death by his parents: brothers: Cecil Walter and Louie Walter: Sister Jimia Lee Ruff.
Arvis is survived by his wife, Jackie Walter of Robinson: daughter, Susan Smith and husband, Jim, of Robinson, Son: Larry Morehouse and wife Kathy, of Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren, Amber Clemons and husband Chris, of Robinson and Ashley Ellis and husband, Eric, of Lorena, and Sheri Morehouse Hines, of Scottsdale, AZ. Great grandchildren: Halen Clemons, Braxton Jones, and Jack Clemons. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his sisters: Mary Leard and husband, Tom, of Terrell, Louise White, of McGregor, Virginia Mudge and husband, David, of Kopperl: brother, Billy Joe Walter of South Bosque: sisters-in-law: Dorothy Walter, of South Bosque and Ima Walter, of McGregor. Special relatives: Nolan and Willie Boyd, of South Bosque. Many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Bluebonnet Hospice personnel who provided loving care for our special family member. We also thank the ladies from Comfort Keepers who cared for Dad and Mom.
