Anna Doris “Annie” Rice of Robinson, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 23, at 10:00 a.m., at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, TX. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
Annie was born in Womack, TX, to Herman and Ella (Gaskamp) Zuehlke. The oldest of three children, she grew up on the family farm, helping out with the daily chores of picking cotton, working in the garden and taking care of the animals. She attended schools in Womack and Clifton, TX. She married Joe Glenn Rice on February 2, 1957 and moved to Waco, TX. In 1967, she moved to Robinson, TX, where she lived the remainder of her life. Annie worked at O&I Bottling Company from 1964 to 1994. Retirement wasn’t for her so she went to work at Brookshire’s Grocery store in Robinson. She left in 1998 to care for husband. After his passing in late 1999, she began working at Texas Farm Bureau in February of 2000, retiring in the summer of 2011.
Annie was preceded in death by husband, Joe; her parents; father and mother-in-law, Hubert and Matilda Rice; son-in-law, Roger Cogburn; brothers-in-law, Bobby Rice and W.C. Rice; sister-in-law, Freda Adams, and great-granddaughter, Kynadi Buzbee.
Annie is survived by her daughter, Natalie Cogburn of Robinson, daughter, Debbie Jo Rice of Robinson; son, Randy Rice and spouse Debbie of West; daughter Dianna Churchman and spouse David of Burleson; two siblings, Raymond Zuehlke and spouse Delores, Janie Elkin and spouse Alan; sisters-in-law, Thelma White and spouse Wayne, Marcia Rice, Becky Elmore and spouse Nathan and Susan Brown; brother-in-law, Rodney Rice and spouse Jo Ann; grandchildren, Glenn Cogburn and spouse Michelle, Amanda Buzbee and spouse Justin, Kristin Randall and spouse Claude, Shayne Rice and spouse Kerri, Randa Rice, Brittnee Rice and spouse Larry Jewell, Jessica Seymour and spouse Ronie, and Ashton Churchman; 15 great-grandchildren, Courtney Glover; Kade, Kooper and Kamy Buzbee; Austin and Hunter Randall; Paxton Rice; Blayne Rice; Braden, Kirsten and Avery Jewell; Daniel, Andi and Ella Seymour; her granddog, Rocket; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
