Amalia Garcia

Amalia is now in heaven with her husband, José and her son, Ruben.

Her family is grateful to have had Amalia with them and know that she is now resting in God's heaven.

Born in 1935, she married in 1953 and began raising her family in Edinburg, Texas. She relocated to Chicago in 1968 with her husband José and her four young children Amalia, José, Ruben and Albert. After working at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital for 20 years, she worked in community service and eventually retired. Recently, she returned to live in Texas with her daughter Amalia and son-in-law Joseph on their ranch in Moody, Texas.

Amalia appeared to be in good spirits at Christmastime last year but her health began to slowly decline. She had been in hospice care for about two weeks before she passed on February 11, 2024 at the age of 88. She has now joined her husband José in heaven, who left us in 2020. They were married for 67 years before he passed. A memorial service will be planned to take place later this year in Chicago where she still has many friends and family members waiting to say goodbye.
