Alvin E. Atkinson, Jr., age 82, of Robinson, TX, passed away August 14, 2023 at Ascension Living Providence Village, in Waco, TX.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 17th, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Freedman officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 16th, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ralph Bowler, Chris Braziel, Kendell Finstad, Mike Koehler, Kevin Rosenkranz, Brent Schraeder, Tony Sorrentino, and Kim Woodliff. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Jerry Doyle, Joe Bone, Mark Kay, and Ray Brown.
Alvin was born to Alvin E. Atkinson, Sr. & Lillie Wilkins Atkinson, on June 10, 1941, in Brownwood, TX. He spent his childhood years in Eldorado, TX, attending school there from 1st grade until graduation. During high school, Alvin played football and basketball, with basketball being the sport in which he excelled. Later in life, while driving a truck for Gandy Milk, in San Angelo, TX, Alvin met a girl, by the name of Ann, who worked in the office at Gandy Milk. After three months of dating, Alvin & Ann became husband and wife on October 20, 1963. They were just two months shy of celebrating 60 years of marriage.
Alvin was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church of Robinson, where he served on the board and various committees throughout the years. Alvin was a hard worker and spent many years providing for his family. Most of those years were spent working for Wales Industrial Service and Industrial Rigging Service. Alvin also loved to fish and hunt. His favorite fishing and hunting trips were the ones he shared with his nephews, son, and grandsons. Later in life, Alvin had a couple of fishing buddies who made sure he was able to enjoy fishing as long as he possibly could. Alvin was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
His parents, Alvin & Lillie Atkinson, preceded Alvin in death.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Atkinson; sister, Charlene Atkinson; sister, Sherry Robison; daughter, Audra Monger and husband Robert; son, Heath Atkinson and wife Nadine; grandson, Colton Atkinson and wife Katy; grandson, Dillon Atkinson and girlfriend Hayley; grandson, Zach Monger; grandson, Zane Monger and girlfriend Bailee; step-grandson, Chase Baize and wife Michelle; step-grandson, Gerik Baize and girlfriend, Santana; great-granddaughters, Jordan, Kenzie, & Finley Baize, and Harlow Mae Atkinson; as well as many other family and friends.
