Alan Barnell Strahan, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday February 24, 2025, at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home. Visitation will be Saturday March 1, 2025, from 3-5 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel with a private graveside service to be held at Bold Springs Cemetery for family members at a later date. Alan was born in Waco, TX, on July 30, 1947, to Cecil Barnell (Barney)Strahan and Margie Donnell Strahan. After Alan’s Vietnam deployment, he worked as a machinist until his retirement in 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Peggy Strahan, his parents Barney and Margie Strahan, and younger sister Gail Hargrove. Alan is survived by his sisters Bobbie Ann Simons and husband David, and Denise Gateley. Children Al Flaherty and wife Tracy, Patricia Tucker and husband Jeff, Eric Strahan and wife Suzanne. Grandkids Crystal Butler, Grant Flaherty, Kyle Flaherty, Bobby Strahan, Bryce Strahan, Braily Strahan and numerous great grandchildren and cousins. Alan never met a stranger and would welcome anyone into his family with open arms. He loved fishing, hunting, and the Texas coast along with anything outdoors. Alan loved his kids and grandkids unconditionally and was proud of all of them. The family wants to give a special thank you to all the medical staff at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home and Heart of Texas Hospice.
