Alan Hoelscher

February 15, 1953 — January 27, 2018

Alan Ray Hoelscher passed away Saturday January 27, 2018, at his home in Riesel. He was 64 years old. A rosary will be recited at 6pm Tuesday Jan. 30 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Waco, with a visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday January 31st at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 2621 Bagby Ave Waco TX, with Father Benjie as celebrant. The graveside service will follow at the Riesel Cemetery with Father Benjie officiating assisted by Brandon Cope. A meal will be provided following the service at First Baptist Church in Riesel at 1pm.
Alan was born February 15, 1953 in Westphalia TX. He attended Rosebud-Lott High School. He married the love of his life, Cindy Shaw, on August 25th 1973. They had 2 sons, Kirk Alan Hoelscher in 1977 and Brandon “Burr” Hoelscher in 1981. They moved to Riesel in 1981. His passion was being a “Peeps” to his 3 grandsons and watching them in everything they did. He loved being outside in the yard mowing his grass, watering his plants and feeding his chickens. Alan never met a stranger. He talked to everyone; and everyone that knew him will tell you that Alan was a great man. He was a wonderful husband, father, father- in-law, pepaw, brother, brother- in- law, uncle and friend.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Beatrice.
Alan is survived by his wife Cindy of Riesel; sons, Kirk and wife Amy of Riesel, Brandon and wife Christi of Hallsburg ; grandsons, Tyler, Caleb and Payton; brother, Donnie Hoelscher and wife Helen of Temple, TX; sister, Ann Saur and husband Phil of Comfort, TX; brother, Dennis Hoelscher and wife Donna of Hewitt, TX, sister, Kathy Asher and husband Trey of Palestine, TX; sister, Nancy Murray and husband Roddy of Austin, TX; brother, Roger Hoelscher of Temple, TX as well as various in-laws, nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great- nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Heath, Caleb Hoelscher, Payton Hoelscher (Honorary), Justin Shaw, Jordan Hoelscher, Daryl Shaw, Terrell Saur, Jared Koester and Richard Hoelscher. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Brown and Jerry Brown.
