Adrienne Huberta Smith Williams passed from this life on June 10, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Adrienne was 93 years old. A graveside service will be at 10:00 am, Friday June 15, 2018 at Robinson Cemetery, 620 E. Stegall Rd., Robinson. Services are under the direction of Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Adrienne was born in Throckmorton, Texas on December 22, 1924 to Hugh Lawrence and Mattie Elberta Smith. She had one brother, Hollis. She graduated from Throckmorton High School and continued her education at Abilene Christian College where she earned a bachelor’s degree. Adrienne earned a master’s degree from Sam Houston State University. Her first teaching job was in Fort Stockton. Her second teaching job was in Olney where she met her husband, Alonzo ‘Lon’ Walton Williams, when she was asked to dinner at a student’s house. They knew each other for six weeks before marrying in Throckmorton on August 4, 1946.
Adrienne taught school for 32 years and substituted for many years after. She worked in various towns and retired from teaching in Georgetown. She loved to teach and she enjoyed working with kids.
Adrienne and Lon were faithful members of the Church of Christ in each of the towns in which they lived.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Lon, daughters Joy Hatcher and Terri Duncan, grandson, David Duncan, great granddaughter, Kirby Taylor, and son-in-law, Phil Carter.
Adrienne is survived by Kay Carter of Houston, Jan (Dale) Norwood of College Station, and Don (Julia) Williams of Midland. She had 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.
