Obituary for Gary Payne

Gary Payne
Gary Payne went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2017, after a courageous and hard fought battle with brain cancer. Services will be held on Friday, December 15, at 10:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Austin Avenue, with DeeDee Carson officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the parlor at the church. Interment will be at Waco Memorial Park.
Gary was born in Waco on December 20, 1944, to James Franklin and Ruth (Suggie) Payne. He attended schools locally and fulfilled many work opportunities throughout his life, including Professional Motocross driver, truck driver and mechanic. Gary loved classic cars, sports, fishing, golf and all things speed related. Gary had a kind and loving spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never met anyone who was not a friend. Gary loved the Lord and his Lutheran/Presbyterian history. Gary cherished time spent with his family, relaxing on the lake or hitting the golf course. Gary married the love of his life, Amy Barrett, on September 27, 1985, and they had 32 wonderful years together.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Payne; sister, Edna Tippie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gary is survived by his wife Amy Payne; sons Jason Dalrymple, and Michael Payne and wife Dani; daughters, Marsha Hester and Wendy Payne; grandchildren Marty, Stephanie, Sarah, Cody, Kendra, Blake, and Codi Kayla; great-grandchildren Tensley and Cammie; brothers, Jimmy Payne and wife Janice, and Carl Payne and wife Penny; his beloved dog, Junior; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian O’Grady, the McClinton Cancer Center, and all the faithful for their prayers throughout his battle with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Waco Humane Society, 2032 Circle Road, Waco, TX, 76706.
